We’re Louis and Gemma, the co-founders of 3heart Ministry – a calling birthed not from comfort, but from quiet surrender and deep transformation after walking a painful path of trials, heartache, and brokenness. Married in both heart and mission, we’ve journeyed through seasons of personal struggle, healing, and restoration, and emerged with one purpose: to share the endless love of God with others.
Our lives are living letters, as Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 3:2–3 – stories of God’s faithfulness, etched not in ink, but on the heart, written by the Spirit of the Living God. Through 3heart Ministry, we offer that testimony – not as a final word, but as an invitation into God’s healing presence, His radiant light, and the stillness that restores – all held within the embrace of His agape love, a charitable and endless love that never fails. It’s in this quiet place that we learn to be attentive to His still, small voice – His gentle whisper that brings peace, vision, and calling. When we reside under the shelter on His wings, we discover our true purpose – to remain in Him. Through complete submission and surrender, He lights our path, paves the way and says Follow Me.

Louis Smith-Alexander
Louis’s journey to co-founding 3heart Ministry is marked by seasons of deep surrender and miraculous restoration. After enduring significant health challenges and a painful season of addiction, he encountered God’s unending grace in a moment of complete surrender. It was there, “under the shelter of His wings,” that Louis discovered his true purpose-to live as a “living letter” of God’s faithfulness, written not in ink but by the Spirit on human hearts .
As a leader, Louis channels his own testimony into three core passions: guiding hearts into the stillness of God’s presence (“Be Still and Know that I Am God”), equipping believers to reflect Christ’s light in every sphere, and planting spiritual lighthouses worldwide. He brings strategic vision to the launch of Son-light Hubs in Ghana and Triumph Together Men’s Ministry-each an outworking of his conviction that in brokenness we are healed and in surrender we are restored.

Gemma Smith-Alexander
Gemma’s calling to 3heart Ministry was forged in the crucible of heartache and personal loss. Navigating seasons of brokenness, she found solace in the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit, who taught her that every wound could become a doorway to divine healing. Embracing the triune love of the Father, Son, and Spirit, Gemma’s life became a testament to God’s agape-that charitable, endless love that heals, restores, and empowers .
In her role, Gemma pours compassion into discipleship and creative expression, mentoring minds through Christ-centred education and leading Spirit-filled worship gatherings that invite others into God’s radiant light. She co-authors 3heart’s discipleship resources and helps develop School of Light’s digital curriculum, reflecting her belief that down-to-earth testimony combined with biblical teaching can awaken souls to heavenly citizenship.
Jenna Nel
Jenna is the fruit of generations of parents who have loved the Lord faithfully and wholeheartedly. Raised in the faith, she once believed she did not have a testimony of her own, until she came to understand the quiet power of a life built on generational inheritance. What once sheltered her became the foundation she now stands on, proof that the ceilings of one generation can become the floors of the next.
Through her walk with God, Jenna has seen how the enemy often seeks to undermine this kind of spiritual legacy by sowing disillusionment, particularly through wounds inflicted within Christian community. She speaks honestly to the reality that people are human and even fellow believers can cause deep pain. Yet her heart burns to call the disillusioned and broken back home. Where people may have failed, Christ has remained faithful. Jenna’s message is one of invitation and restoration: come back to Jesus, come back to community, and receive the healing waiting in the open arms of the Father.
Jenna serves as the Developmental Lead of the Foundation, where she works under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to translate God given vision into practical action. With discernment and faith, she helps shape and steward what God is building, believing deeply that obedience births growth and that legacy is something to be lived, protected, and passed on.
Jolene Downs
Jolene Downs is a graphic designer based in Cape Town, South Africa, and a key contributor to 3heart Ministry. She supports the ministry by shaping its visual identity with care and intention, helping communicate its message in a way that feels clear, grounded and accessible. With a background in graphic design and a strong appreciation for storytelling, Jolene approaches each project thoughtfully, focusing on balance, clarity and consistency across platforms.
She works closely with the team to translate ideas, values and purpose into visual elements that upports connection and understanding. Through her work with 3heart Ministry, Jolene plays an important role in ensuring the visual imagery of the organisation feels cohesive and reflective of its mission, creating design that invites engagement while remaining gentle and human in tone.
Sonbathe in Christ
Letting His Light Transform Your Walk
Just as the sun gives life and energy to the earth, the light of Christ renews and transforms our souls. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). To “Sonbathe” is to soak in His presence – to abide in Him so deeply that His light becomes our source of joy, direction, and peace.
Like sunbathing, this isn’t about striving – it’s about being still and receiving. As Psalm 46:10 reminds us, “Be still, and know that I am God.” When we dwell in His presence, His truth softens our hearts and strengthens our steps.
As we live in this light, we begin to reflect Him to others. “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Our lives become vessels of hope, truth, and love – not because of who we are, but because of who He is in us.
